Gallery V – Faux Druzy Jewellery

Faux Druzy jewellery is created using jeweler’s grade resin cast into silicon molds that are individually designed for each set of my crystal jewelry.  The mold is made by taking an impression of a faux Druzy cabochon (composed of tiny pieces of glass shards, glued together into a specific size and shape).  Additives are mixed into the liquid resin (such as oil paints or glitter), or the mold surface can be dusted with PearlEx™ pigments, to give extra shine to the crystalline facets of the cast resin shape.  Each resin casting is filed, hand-painted with additional colours, and then sealed with a protective clear coat.  Finally, the faux Druzy is mounted onto a metal bezel to complete the jewellery piece.
